365 Doodles - Day 240

Some sketches for a possible commission piece. I like the idea of the jockey having been thrown over the horse's head and now hanging by the reins. Ha!

Love the horses faces. They remind me of some Ronald Searle pictures I saw when I was young. So young in fact I spend a hour trying to trace his name on Google.

Hope you get the commission.

Ronald Searle was a major influence on me as a young chap along with Arther Rackham,Ralph Steadman and Quentin Blake. I particularly loved Searle's Molesworth books - 'Down with Skool' and the sequels - and, of course, St Trinians, which he invented.

If I could draw as well as him I'd be a happy man :)

It was St Trinians film I remembered his work from. And luckily I was still too young to be distracted by schoolgirls in stocking....Mm! Maybe these distractions are why it took me an hour to find him on Google! (Darn my love of stockings)
