Sanity prevails

I am so, so thrilled for America and the world in general. I'm not saying that McCain is a bad man - far from it. I just honestly, truly believe that by electing Obama, America has acknowledged the need to change, improve and grow.

Things can only get better from now on.

Hoorah!

Couldn't agree more. I stayed up until 5 to watch, but it was worth it.

I agree. It's fantastic news for a country that's been scarred by eight years of Bush. After the market crash this year, at last some good news…

"Tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope.

That's the true genius of America: that America can change. Our union can be perfected. What we've already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow."

President-Elect, Barack Obama

I am bursting with American pride!!! :D

I COMPLETELY agree...and have just blogged about it myself!

I'm so happy today, but I'm also very sleepy. I guess this isn't the best day of the year in England to try to have an early night either, is it?

I'm doing a happy dance myself. We drove home in the dark flipping from radio station to radio station to get keep up with the poll results. This is good news. President Obama has a rough row ahead. Our country is in crisis. We must all understand that he has inherited a great deal of problems that cannot be fixed overnight. However he appears to be committed to heading of in a new direction, and perhaps matters at hand will convince the House and the Senate that now is not the time for bi-partisanship.

Dear All - I'm so pleased for you all (especially you colonials! I guess you haven't done too badly since you booted us out ... ). I honstly do think that things will be better when the country is run by someone who is not quite so wedded to the oil industry and other big businesses. It's fantastic news. Obama just seems to drip honesty, passion, integrity and charm. I'm sure he'll be a great Pres.

Who42 - Wooo! (That's poetry that is)

Princess G - Well, we all worry about new neighbours moving in. Nice to have a fresh new family rather than more of the same troublesome family! And I do like that new photo.

It feels like home once more. It has been a long and shameful eight years. We are thrilled to bits over here.

PT & E - And we're equally thrilled for you. x
