MeGoWriFo NaNoWriMo

It's National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and the challenge is to write a complete novel during the month of November of 50,000 words or more. I've watched it take place several times in the past but never had the bottle to go for it. Well, I'm between books, my calendar is relatively clear (before the big Christmas sales push) and I have what I think is a damned good idea. I don't suppose that the finished piece will be any better than a first draft but what the Hell. I'm going for it!

I'm already 5000 words in ... I'll keep you posted as the month progresses.

Meanwhile, if you want to read my efforts, visit the specially created Orpheus on the Underworld blog!

Mary - Excellent! I shall watch your blog with interest. Anyone else out there going to have a go? It's a great challenge and it doesn't half make you disciplined!

Are you mad? It's November! (No kids at home, I gather?) Actually, I'm considering joining up with NaBloPoMo --- but not until (and only for) February, because it's the shortest month....

Go Stevyn and Mary!

My caledar is full and I don't have a good enough idea but I'll be cheering from the sidelines.

You are the second blogger I know that has entered this contest.
Unfortunately I do not know how to link in comments, so I cannot link to her post.
Good luck Stevyn, I know you will do well.:)

Persephone - Kids at home! Blimey! My youngest child is 20 in a month or so. I have no kids at home. That's why I've finally had time to write a book and post a blog!

Sarah - Ditto my comments to Persephone. I do have the time and I'm a quick worker. Maybe next year for you, eh?

Punky - Thanks! I may post the novel up so you can all see how it's going ... maybe on a separate new blog?

Protege - No worries! Wish your friend luck from me. I'm also following a number of other mad people to see how they do. It's going to be a fun month!

Fastfingers - I will watch with interest. I'm in the process of creating a new blog to post mine as it develops. Watch this ...well, that, space.

Bon chance, Stevyn.

This NaNoWriMo reminds me of Edward Woodward with the D's removed - Ewar Woowar. We could even extend the NaNo thing into novels themselves, shortening them considerably and cutting down on paper use.

MaWaDeToBeWi - First line of A Christmas Carol.

ItIsATrUnAcThASiMaInPoOfAGoFoMuBeInWaOfAWi - First line of Pride and Prejudice. (I had to show 'It', 'Is', etc. in full otherwise it would have compromised your ability to understand the sentence!)

Stevyn... I'm Protege's friend (she thinks we would get on well, though I'm not sure what that says about either of us ;)... I'm about 7,700 words in as of this morning. I just read over it, though, and it's quite crap... but it possibly has good bones... we shall see. Good luck with yours as well!!

Chris - ArYoMa?

Diane - Protege has proven to be a good judge of character. I'm sure we'll get on famously. Good luck!

Oh science, I'd like to, I really would. But I'm a procrastinator, its my job.

Stevyn Colgan said...

Who42 - Sorry it took me so long to answer your comment about procrastination. Harf.

doctawho42 said...

That was horrible.

Stevyn Colgan said...

Sorry ...

Just don't do it again. :)
