Comicon Costume Cavalcade Capers Part 1

Some of my favourite costumes (and favourite photos) from the 39th San Diego Comicon.

They really take it seriously over there don't they?
More photos soon!

All photos copyright myself and James Murphy except 'Hello Kitty' courtesy of James Jarvis and the chaps at Strangeco.

Reminds me of an indoor version of the Halloween parades down in the Village in NYC!

Thanks for going to all the trouble to post all the images for us.

Good to see Mr Fantastic's powers appear to affect the whole of his body. Crikey, but that's a frank costume!

John - Yes, he was a brave man. And a proud man obviously.

The expression, "Get a life" takes on new meaning after seeing your pics - that is, I have no idea what "get a life" means to someone dressed as a comic book character...

Ah Bill ... I've said it before and I'll say it again; I think that the geeks have it right.

Think about it ... football fans spend loads of money on expensive sports kit, paint their faces and then stand in the rain every Saturday cheering for a bunch of millionaires kicking a bag of wind around a field. Geeks, on the other hand, dress up maybe once or twice a year and attend events like this where 2 out of every 3 persons in costume is a young lady in a skimpy outfit and where Playboy models speak to you and pose for your camera.

Now which would I rather be? Jock or Geek? Hmmm ...

p.s. I don't own a costume of any kind. Honest. Spiderman with a beer gut just wouldn't work. Not that that stopped many people in San Diego ...

Hey Stevyn, thanks awfully for the Comicon report back with all the interesting pics - you know, even as a non comic type, you make it seem a worth while trip (sans the Mexico moment - eek!).

I think it just might be on my calendar for next year.

Rob - It's certainly something you should do once. Once may be enough!

Janet - If this lot turned up on my doorstep on Halloween, they'd deserve the candy. Some of the costumes were amazing.
